Organizing your photos

If you have thousands of photos, chances are they’re not organized as well as you’d like. Don’t be ashamed though, we’re in the same boat. That’s why Zoner Photo Studio X comes packed with lot’s of features focused on getting your photo archive organized. What does that mean? With ZPS X, you will:

  1. Find and display your photos faster (like that one from your sunny vacation)
  2. Save time when importing photos from your camera
  3. Be able to modify your pictures in batches (more time saved, yay! 😎)

Basic overview of the Manager module

Here’s Thomas taking you on a tour of the Manager module:

Importing your photos

With other software, you don’t usually have a choice – the first step begins with importing all of your photos into the program. But with Zoner Photo Studio X, it’s different. Manage your photos in several different ways:

  • directly on your memory card (we don’t recommend this though)
  • accessing any folder containing images on your PC
  • importing your photos to your photo archive

It’s already been mentioned, but just to remind you, there’s an article on how to import your photo to Zoner Photo Studio X.

What’s the Catalog and why we should use it

Simply put, Zoner Photo Studio X can monitor your photo folders and stores all the information about your photos in a database called the Catalog. When you need to search for photos with specific descriptions, marked with three stars or more, or taken near that specific summer vacation spot, you can easily find it. And you can do it much faster than accessing the photos directly.

Another advantage is that several other features in Zoner Photo Studio benefit from the Catalog’s capacity, for example, pre-cache your raw files in one of your folders so that you can then work with them a lot faster.

Another benefit is that the Catalog is optional. You may not need it if you want to work quickly with your photographs. But whether you choose to use it or not, your photos remain yours, ZPS X won’t lock them into some hidden database and you can access them freely in the original folders.
