What are the benefits of subscription licenses?
Thanks to subscription licenses, you’ll always have the latest version of Zoner Photo Studio, and it will be enhanced with new features more often than ever. You’ll also get free technical support throughout your subscription period, and as a user with an active subscription to the latest version, you’ll be first in line for support.
We’re also preparing teaching materials for paying customers, so you can learn to use the program to the fullest and work with your photos more easily than ever before.
What subscription length can be purchased?
We offer 1-year subscriptions.
Do you offer a discount for upgrades, i.e. for switching from an older version of ZPS?
Definitely; we have special subscription prices for owners of older versions. To see your discount, visit https://www.zoner.com/en/buy and log in with your Zoner Account.
What happens to the program if I don’t renew my subscription?
If you don’t renew your subscription in time, then Zoner Photo Studio X will switch into a 30-day protection period. During the protection period, you can still work with the program normally. When it runs out, it will be possible to start up the program, browse photos in it, and export them to standard formats. A subscription renewed during the protection period will link in to the previous running subscription. The day and month of your subscription’s expiration will also be retained, as well as any running discounts you had.
Example: You purchase ZPS X on October 20th, 2016, and you don’t renew your subscription until October 30th, 2017. Its next expiration date comes on October 20th, 2018.
Do you guarantee continuous updates to the program?
Yes, we’ll be working on the program’s development nonstop. This is Zoner’s main product, and so we give it a lot of attention. Also, unlike our past licensing model, the subscription model enables us to publish new features multiple times per year, so that we can react more quickly to our users’ needs.
Can I buy an older version with a permanent license?
We currently offer subscription licenses only. These licenses include, besides the program itself, free technical support and learning materials as well. These materials are available for paying users only, and they’ll teach you to get the most out of the program, to make your work with photos simpler than ever.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions can be canceled on any anniversary of their starting date. If you haven’t taken action to set up automatic renewal of your subscription, then it’s enough to simply not pay for the next period. You can give or withdraw assent to automatic renewal of your subscription in the settings for your Zoner Account, at https://account.zoner.com.
How do I buy Zoner Photo Studio online?

- In the first ordering step, you select your product. You can also choose a family extension. In the next step, click the blue button marked “Continue.”
- We then check to see if you already have a Zoner Account. This account with us is necessary for purchasing ZPS X. If you own an older version of Zoner Photo Studio, we’ll use your Zoner Account to determine what discount you qualify for. If you purchased a version that still used license codes, you can also perform this verification by entering your old license code. If you do not yet have a Zoner Account, create one now by providing your email address and setting a password.
- In the next step, Additional Products, you select whether you want an electronic license for a single user, or a license for multiple users in your household—the family extension.
- Then enter your contact and delivery details as well.
- Then select a payment method and continue with your order.
- If you’d like to generate an invoice—for example because you are ordering a single-user license for a company—check the option for generating an invoice and then fill out the needed information.
- To see your order summary, look on the right. Please double-check it before you order. You can go back to any phase of your order by clicking “EDIT.” Once you’re sure that the information in your order summary is correct, click “CONFIRM AND PAY.”
- If you didn’t have a Zoner Account from before, we’ve created one for you. So we’ll send out an order confirmation, other general information you’ll need, and a link for confirming and activating your Zoner Account, which you’ll need later to activate your Zoner Photo Studio. These will be sent to the email address that you provide during the order.
Can I buy Zoner Photo Studio right from inside the program?
Yes, use the shopping cart icon at the top right. When you’re buying from inside of a previous purchased version of Zoner Photo Studio, we’ll detect your previous purchase and apply the discount automatically.
You can pay with Internet-enabled credit cards from inside the program. Both the single-user license and the family extension can be purchased this way. The program will be activated shortly after payment. Your payment is immediately recorded on your Zoner Account and no further program activation is necessary afterward.
I’ve ordered, but I haven’t received an email from you. What should I do?
Check your spam folder, and make sure that you are checking the same address as you provided when making the order.
Will Zoner Photo Studio X work on my computer?
You’ll find the minimum and recommended system requirements for your computer here.
You can try Zoner Photo Studio before buying it, thanks to its 30-day trial version. The trial version contains all the functions of the full paid version.
How can I pay for ZPS?

You can then use the program immediately—we’ll email you order, license, and pickup information within a few minutes after your purchase. We’ll send you a payment document within one business day. We accept Visa/Visa Electron, MasterCard/Maestro, and MasterCard® Mobile. The transaction is secured by the GP WebPay payment gate, which meets the absolute strictest payment security standard: 3D card.

You can also pay using the PayPal web payment system. Just as with card payments, we’ll email you order, license, and pickup information within a few minutes after your purchase. You’ll receive a payment document by the next business day.
Can I use this program on two or more computers (like my desktop and my laptop)?
Yes. Licenses for Zoner Photo Studio X are per-user rather than per-computer. When you purchase a license, you gain a Zoner Account if you don’t have one yet, and your license is added to your account. Use your account to log in to ZPS X on any computer where it’s installed. In order for other people in your household to log in to the program (even on the same computer), you need to supplement your license with a family extension, thanks to which all the members of your household will be able to use ZPS X via their own accounts. This license can only be used for personal, non-commercial purposes.
Note.: The family license is for members of one household: people who permanently live together and cover living expenses together.
What are Zoner Accounts used for?
Zoner Accounts are one unified place for work with every Zoner product and service, such as Zoner Photo Studio, Zonerama, the Zoner Photo Studio Android app, and Zonerama Magazine. You use them to manage your ZPS orders and licenses. No license codes to lose!
By logging in to your Zoner Account, you will automatically activate your Zoner Photo Studio. Your Zoner Account login also lets you use online services inside the program, like sending photos by e-mail, sharing them on Facebook and Zonerama, and ordering photo items.
As a registered user of Zoner Photo Studio, you will have access to all the bonus materials that are only available to ZPS X subscribers.
Why do I have to log in to / sign up for a Zoner Account when buying ZPS?
Your Zoner account lets us know whether or not you qualify for upgrade discounts and makes it easier for you to activate Zoner Photo Studio later, since activation will require login to a Zoner Account. The other benefits of Zoner Accounts are described in the question “What are Zoner Accounts used for?”
I can’t log in to my Zoner Account.
If you don’t know the password for your account, use the Forgot your password? link during login.
A password-reset message will be sent to your e-mail inbox. Click the confirmation link in that message. This takes you to your Zoner Account webpage.
If you can’t remember the email for your account, then try the email addresses that you’ve used in recent years, one by one.
Where can I download Zoner Photo Studio? How do I correctly install it?

The installer leads you through the whole installation process.
If you’ve been using the trial version, you don’t need to re-install. Simply start up Zoner Photo Studio after your purchase, and it will automatically see your purchase and become activated.
I own an older version and need to reinstall it. Where can I download the installer?
Visit our Downloads page and in the Download Older Versions section, select the version that you want to download.
How do I activate the program?
You don’t need long license codes, and you don’t need activation codes. We just tie your license to your Zoner Account (account.zoner.com), where you can find it at any time, along with a handy download link for the installer. The first time you run the program after installing it, you’ll need to log in to your Zoner Account. If you’ve purchased your license before installing the program, then this login immediately activates the full version.
How can I tell if my software has been activated?
From right inside the program. Click the question-mark icon towards the top right to show the Help menu, and then click About....
In the middle of the About window, under the Zoner Photo Studio logo, you see information on the version and build of the program. If you’re using the paid version, it also says PRO here. If you’re using the trial version, it says TRIAL.
I’m having trouble with my first run and activation of the program.
For the first run and activation of the program, you need an Internet connection, because activation—for both trial versions and purchased versions—takes place over your Zoner Account. Therefore, please check that your Internet connection is working and that the activation process is not being blocked by antivirus software or a firewall.
If you don’t know the password for your Zoner Account, then please use the forgotten-password link in the login window. If an error message occurs during login, please send a full-screen screenshot to us at firstname.lastname@example.org for analysis.
I’ve purchased a license with a family extension for the members of my household. How do I share the license with them?
In your Zoner Account click Manage ZPS Settings. You’ll then see a table with your license or licenses. On the line for the license in question, click Users. This takes you to a screen where you can provide e-mail addresses for the other members of your household. We’ll send them each an e-mail with a link for creating a Zoner Account (or logging in to their existing account). To pick up their license, they click the link in that e-mail.
My computer just died. Have I lost my paid software?
You have not. To very easily re-download any recent version, simply visit your Zoner Account. You’ll find a download link waiting for you there. Install the program and run it. A login window will appear. Log in to your Zoner Account from here. Your purchased software will then activate automatically.
If it does not, then there is no license attached to the account that you logged in to. You most likely purchased under a different account (a different email address) than the one you logged in to. We recommend searching your email inbox for messages from Zoner. Once you find the right account, start up your ZPS, click the email address shown at the top right, log out, and then log back in under your account that owns the license.
Do I need to be online while using ZPS?
Internet access is needed when activating the program and for certain actions that are online by nature, like accessing the online Zonerama galleries or ordering photo products (calendars and canvas prints). However, for day-to-day functions like managing and editing pictures, you do not need to be online. ZPS also occasionally needs to check the validity of your license, and so we do not recommend being offline for longer than one month. This also ensures that you won’t miss out on any important program updates that bring fixes and new functions.
Where can I learn how to get the most out of my software?
Do you offer free technical support?
Yes. We give priority in our free technical support to the users of the current subscription version, ZPS X.
As time and capacity allow, we also provide technical support to other users. For very old versions, our ability to provide support can be limited due to e.g. the absence of program updates to support the latest cameras or operating systems.
Do you support RAW files? Will I be able to develop RAW files from even the latest cameras?
Zoner Photo Studio automatically supports a wide range of RAW files from DSLRs and medium-format cameras. If your camera is on our supported-cameras list, then you can develop your RAWs in ZPS immediately.
If it is not, then for full functionality please download the latest installer for the freeware named Adobe DNG Converter, and then run that installer.
Inside of ZPS, press Ctrl+M to show the Preferences window. Visit the RAW Format section and turn on the option named “Use Adobe DNG Converter to load RAW files.” If you’ve installed ADC to its usual location, then that’s all you need to do. Otherwise, click the folder icon on the right. A window appears. Use it to browse to the location of the Adobe DNG Converter .exe file, and then click Open. In either case, click Apply to apply the changes.
Is there a version for phones and tablets?
The PC version of Zoner Photo Studio will work on tablets with the PC version of Windows. On phones and tablets with Android 4.0 or higher, you can use our Android app: Zoner Photo Studio – Edit & Go.
Are you planning a Mac version?
We wish to fully concentrate on making our Windows software the very best. Because of this, we are not planning a version for the Macintosh operating system. However, you can run Zoner Photo Studio on Macintosh using Apple’s Boot Camp tool.
I’ve heard that you can send real paper postcards with your photos from inside Zoner Photo Studio. How does it work?
You can create your postcard in Zoner Photo Studio, in our postcard applications for Android and iOS, or here on the web.
You send us the postcard online, we print it out, and we send it to the address you provide.
How do you create a postcard in the Android or iOS app?
If you’d like to use the phone/tablet app on an Android device (Android version 4.0+ required), download Zoner Postcards Zoner Postcards or our more comprehensive Zoner Photo Studio app. This app is also a great place to edit your photos and share them on Facebook and Zonerama. For iOS, currently only the Zoner Postcards app is available.
After the app is installed, the function is also available through the device’s sharing menu, which will contain a “Create Postcard” item. That way, you can also send us the postcard for printing using another app in your device, such as your browser.
How do you pay for postcards?
Payments must be made using the Google Wallet or PayPal systems. These are time-tested, secure services where you can easily sign up and then set your card details for paying for a variety of services from many companies, including Zoner.
I couldn’t send my postcard. An error message appeared in the order details.
The error may be caused by an unstable or weak WiFi signal. The postcard you create is automatically stored for you, so please try sending it again, or change your internet connection.
What is Zonerama for?
We offer the free Zonerama web gallery service for everyone who’d like to create web albums and share and present their photos. It’s directly integrated into Zoner Photo Studio. You can even use it without being inside of ZPS—via the web interface at www.zonerama.com.
You can edit and organize your gallery photos right from inside of Zoner Photo Studio.
Where can I learn more about creating my own Zonerama gallery?
Can I change how my Zonerama gallery looks?
Yes. For example, you can customize your gallery’s intro slideshow as needed. You can organize your gallery into folders and albums and customize the order in which their photos are displayed. Where can I find the exact prices for the various photo products?

What are the delivery periods for the individual products?
We deliver your photo-printed items in 7 days or less within the EU, and in 14 days or less outside the EU.
Where can I get more templates for photo product orders?
New templates may arrive in future updates to ZPS X. We’ll inform you about them right inside the program or via e-mail.
When I’m creating photo products, a red or orange exclamation point appears next to some of my photos. What does it mean?
The red exclamation point indicates that the photo has very low resolution, and therefore we can’t guarantee that it will be printed at satisfactory quality. The orange exclamation point means that the resolution is relatively low—still not high enough to guarantee ideal printing quality.
Try finding a higher-quality or original, uncropped version of the photo. Cropped photos lack the resolution of originals, and so they may lack the quality needed for large prints.
In both cases it often helps to choose a smaller physical size for the item. For photo books, if you’re using the photo in question across the whole page, try using it as a smaller photo to supplement other photos instead.
My photo book / canvas print / photo calendar has a defect. What’s the returns process?
We regret to hear about the trouble, and we’re sure we’ll work it out together. Please write to email@example.com and send us both a picture of the whole item and a close-up on the defect, as well as a copy of the photo file used for creating the item (or, for multi-photo items, used for the defective part.)
